# Brik

A framework to build native iOS and Android widgets, Live Activities, and Dynamic Island from a single React codebase. Compiles JSX/TSX to SwiftUI (WidgetKit) and Jetpack Compose (Glance); no Swift or Kotlin required.

## Technology

React Native, TypeScript, SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose, Expo

## One codebase. Native surfaces.

Widgets and Live Activities use different native frameworks from the main React Native app. Brik explores a shared authoring layer that generates those native surfaces rather than embedding another JavaScript runtime in them.

## How it works

- Author a widget in JSX or TSX
- Validate an intermediate representation
- Generate and integrate native platform code

## Implementation

The documented pipeline compiles a typed, Zod-validated intermediate representation into SwiftUI and Android Glance/Compose. A CLI and Expo plugin handle code generation and project wiring. The repository includes preview components and example integrations.

## Scope and boundaries

The public README marks the project beta and testing in progress. Platform capabilities and OS requirements differ; planned watchOS support is not represented as shipped. Native build toolchains are still part of integration.
